Room Scan Exporter v1.9 is now available!

Dear Community,

Thank you for the incredible response to RSE v1.8! We’ve reached 200 downloads, and your generous donations have been a huge motivation for me to keep improving the app. Your support means the world to me, and it has inspired me to launch a new update packed with exciting features!

What’s New in the Update?

Improved UI: A cleaner, more intuitive interface for a better user experience.

Clear Previous Scan Option: Easily clear old scan data and start fresh.

Passthrough Support: Check the alignment of your scans with the room in real-time using passthrough.

Just wanted to share some more updates on what I’ve been working on! I’m currently experimenting with a new feature that captures room camera textures and applies them to meshes. It’s still in the early stages, and I’m super excited about the possibilities it could bring to the app.

That said, I can’t promise it’ll make it into the next update—it’s still very much a work in progress. Right now, the color texture version is crashing when I try to apply textures to the mesh, so there’s definitely some optimization and debugging needed before it’s ready for prime time.

I’m doing my best to iron out the kinks and make sure everything runs smoothly. Thanks so much for your patience and support while I work on this! I’ll keep you posted as things develop.

Cheers,

Akshay

Wow this is fantastic work! The ease of use and the convenience of making solid interior shots is an understated feat. You did a fantastic job here!

I wonder if the same camera of the Quest 3 or 3s can be used for scanning specific items or even people with proper lighting? That aside I'm loving the progress thus far and can't wait to see the next update for this.

This is really good for making interiors for indie games or for making "true to scale" interior shots for modeling or animation. The mesh work on interiors is trimmed down to mere minutes instead of hours, making texturing and a bit of editing the only real work needed afterwards. Thank you so much for your hard work!

Thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️  I'm really glad you’re enjoying the progress and finding it useful for indie games, modeling, and animation.

Currently, Meta does not allow developers to have direct access to the front camera (which would be useful for capturing textures with the mesh scan), but I have figured out some workarounds to get the user's FOV, which can help with applying textures to the mesh.
